John Stephen Moriarty, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

LCSW 29614

John is an eclectic and creative therapist who recognizes the impact of gender identity, family dynamics, sexuality, ethnic identification, socio-economic status, personal experience, life stage, and physical ability when approaching treatment. His approach to therapy is strengths-based and insightful. As a trauma-informed therapist, John believes that many of life’s challenges can be traced to past trauma, which left untreated, can lead to anxiety, depression, intimacy problems, social isolation, and other physical and mental health manifestations. He draws on mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Specialties and Expertise:

John is a progressive psychotherapist with a background in medical and clinical social work, theater, and community work. As an artist, he can also incorporate music and art into therapy sessions.

John is skilled in supporting trauma survivors, and those experiencing depression, anxiety, social and relationship issues, and career/life changes. He strives to ensure treatment feels manageable and safe and believes the skills learned in therapy are both helpful in the moment and useful for a lifetime.
